Craftsmanship and Community

This product is one we can get behind and support because it not only is made by hand with high quality products but the company also helps the community in a big way. They recruit and train women from neighborhoods that are affected by social and territorial segregation. The 6 month long training is in the areas of embroidery, crochet and sewing and the techniques are applied to jewelry, as well as bags.

The company got its start in 2014 and since then, has grown to 20 women between the ages of 18 and 54. The story behind the company and the products started with the founder not being able to wear pure metal jewelry on her skin without it turning red. The idea was born with the inspiration of her grandmother who taught her how to crochet, to delicately wrap the metals in cotton, silk and raffia threads. Every piece is designed by the companies founder and then handed off to production. The emphasis is placed upon the harmony of the stones, threads and crystals that are used in the piece. They are carefully chosen and combined to create a one of a kind, exceptional end result. Each piece is made by hand and can take anywhere from 3 to 40 hours before it is complete.

The balance between professional and personal life is highly regarded and was recognized in 2019 with an international certification that reflects the investment as entrepreneurs that are committed to an inclusive societal impact and a positive economy.
